Fellow Ghanaians
My brothers and sisters
Today a dark cloud hangs over Ghana, over Africa and indeed over the entire world. Today we have come from so many parts of Ghana, from so many parts of Africa and from so many parts of the world to pay tribute to His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills; a great man who served our nation and our continent Africa with honour. Wherever you are in this great land of ours I ask you to please rise and remain standing for a minute of perfect silence in memory of our departed leader. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Thank you.

Address By Hon. Minister For Information And Media Relations, Mr Mahama Ayariga At The Official Launch Of The 56th Independence Anniversary Of Ghana, 15th February, 2013, Accra

Mr. Chairman,
Distinguished invited Guests,
Members of the Media,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Once again, we have gathered here this morning to perform an annual national ritual- the official launch of the 56th Independence Anniversary of our beloved country, Ghana.

It is a great honour and privilege for me as a person to be given the opportunity to perform this simple but very important function on behalf of H.E. the President, John Dramani Mahama.

Ladies and gentlemen, permit me first of all to express my felicitation for the National Planning Committee members for their effort and creativity that culminated in entire programme for the anniversary programme. No task is too small and it is only through dedication that we can achieve anything as a nation.
